The "Catene Nero" design is inspired by a draft by Gio Ponti for Richard Ginori dating back to 1926. In the late 20s his strict-looking designs sparked a minor revolution. His geometrical arrangements broke with the very playful conventions which dominated the fashion in porcelain at that time.
Gio Ponti was for many years the chief designer for the Italian porcelain manufacturer Richard Ginori from Florence.
